Australia vs India, Big Super Eight Encounter

Australia and India will be facing each other today (Friday, May 7, 2010) while playing their first Super Eight round match, both teams have played very well so far and are unbeaten.

Indian team is doing perfectly well so far in this T20 tournament, they have defeated Afghanistan and South Africa comfortably while playing on the slow wicket of St Lucia. At the same time Australia is also comfortably playing in this tournament and have not lost any game so far, they defeated Bangladesh and Pakistan, Pakistan is also a strong T20 side and Aussies were quite comfortable in that specific game. Pakistan is defending champion in this tournament.

Indian Batsmen are carrying good form from IPL and just after that they joined into this tournament which is quite a good sign for Indian side.

Suresh Raina played an amazing innings against South Africa (101-of 60 balls) hitting 9 fours and 5 sixes and his inning earned India a comfortable victory.  Yuvraj Singh also had shown his form and contributed well so far. Murali Vijay has also played very well in the first game against Afghanistan scoring 48 of 46 balls. Gambhir is declared fit and hopefully be in the Indian squad.

Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar and Ashish Nehra, have bowled very well in the last two games. Nehra’s came good with the shorter delivery against Afghanistan and Praveen’s ability to swing the ball both ways will trouble the top order of any team. In Indian bowling side today Umesh Yadav will replace Praveen Kumar due to his injury and of course Harbhajan Singh’ bowling will be interesting to watch on this bouncy wicket. A good spinner in the side gives India an advantage over Australia.

Australian openers will remain a threat for Indian bowlers, If Watson stays on the crease and continues then there is no other support needed from the middle order like he played against Pakistan scoring 81 of 49 balls. While looking their form in this T20 David Warner and Watson will hopefully be giving a good start to Australian side. The skipper Clarke, Michael Hussey and his brother David will be following which is quite a strong line-up.

As Australian side have more sophisticated pace attack, which was quite successful so far so they will hopefully continue the same way as they did in the last games. Spin combination of David Hussey and Michael Clarke and possibly Cameron White will be interesting to watch on this wicket.
